say my name

After noticing during our bedtime routine that Chloe had hummed the same music phrase over and over for a good minute I asked her, "Hey Chlo, does your teacher ever ask you to stop humming in class?"
Without pause she answered, "Yes. Today she did, when we were working on something."  She paused and grinned, "I like it when she says my name.  It makes me feel special."

That about broke my heart.

Now she's not the type that will repeat an offense just to get her teacher's attention, but she is grasping for it.  She is noticing the void of affection that her preschool teachers always returned with great abandon.

Before entering Kindergarten and public school I knew thirty was too many children in a Kindergarten classroom.  It's just too many, I think logic stands to that.  But today I felt it.

  1. Oh my goodness. That breaks my heart. I feel the same, we all just want people to love our kids as much as we do I think.

    1. I know it's only day six, and it will get better, but that felt like a stab in my heart.

  3. Larra is feeling the same thing....missing the nurturing that preschool gave. They finally hired another teacher and her class is down from 30 to 22

    1. Lisa, it's a rough transition. Chloe wants to hug her so bad! How luck you are/ she is that they hired another teacher. How nice!
